To no purpose. "

Text

Something about the Republican Party attracted and elevated so many men & women who are ambitious to no purpose. They are the political version of wanting to be famous for being famous. They stand for nothing but election.

They're all lazy fucks, except for the campaigning, who don't want a real job.

This is exactly what Milton meant in allegory.

For many personality types, they can go further in the Fox news world than that of CNN. Think Michele Malken or Kimerbly Guilfoyle.

Could Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz, or the comically stupid Louie Gohmert make it big as Democrats? Certainly not.

I learned the quote not from reading Milton, but from watching the original Star Trek episode Space Seed. (The one with Kahn, who uses this quote to explain his own motivations.)

They are the party that is open to believing pure bullshit and that's catnip for Authoritarians.

They have discarded all values and philosophies in favor of pandering to the worst of human desires in order to gain power.
