Will the FBI's arrests of hundreds of terrorists make any difference to the planned attacks on Wed?

Will the terrorists think twice before attending any future insurrections or will they not give a shit and don't take it seriously?

I think they will back down mostly. However, there will be blood and violence from the right. Shots will be fired. They think they 'won' last week.

1. Those smart enough to stay out of risky targets. Getting caught ultimately leads to prison. For them, prison should be avoided.
2. Those dumb enough to attack risky targets. The attacks will continue, and this group will be the tip of the spear.

They are privileged bullies, and some are attention seekers who like to play up their alleged victimhood, but few of them are totally committed to the permanent form of martyrdom.

I know it wasn't the actual Alamo, however Trump probably was sending a signal to the dumb ones and they will heed the call and forever live in infamy as a buffoon, Trump cultist who accomplished nothing but getting shot in the head for a snake oil salesman they thought was God.

Of the hundreds of arrests and other ongoing investigations and talking to suspects, the FBI has collected a lot of intelligence and information including from some of the arrested folks and associates who may be trying to cut deals and are spilling the beans on plans they may know about.

This definitely will make many of the planned assaults be aborted.

No one was kidnapped. No one was hung. No Congressperson was shot. The certification still happened. They stopped nothing except their own futures.

Taking on the National Guard would be suicide.

Few of the people who stormed the Capitol were paragons of bravery. Instead, they were fired up by Trump during his term, and’ at the moment of the rally, fired up by professionals and competent zealots. These cretins have seen that there are consequences. They won’t show.

And the most committed seditionists? The gun fetishists, the militia cos-payers, and the ex-military guys who are adrift without the connection to their “team”. They’re going to look at all the firepower stacked up in the Capitol and they're going to take a pass. (Their rational will be that they’re just keeping their powder dry for other tactical opportunities—which is valid and worrisome.

So yeah, the arrests will both reduce the number of bad guys willing to make trouble because they’re under arrest. But in addition, the arrests will tamp down enthusiasm amount the less committed, cowardly cohort.

they actually thought they were going to get away with their coup attempt.

I really believe they thought they were going force the election results to be thrown out, and have Trump declared president for the next four years, if not for the rest of his life. After their mission was accomplished, I'm certain they thought they would celebrate in DC, then go back home and be welcomed as conquering heroes, with parades, cheering crowds, thrown bouquets of flowers, and medal awards ceremonies.

Now, with 20,000 National Guardsmen on the streets of DC, I think most of those "heroes" will think twice about showing up there, and in the state capitals.

I'm certain some insurrectionists will still show up, and I'll be surprised if there aren't any more deaths in the coming days. But, I think we've already seen the "high water mark" of this particular revolt.
