The new Post poll has some awful findings among Republicans:

51% say GOP leaders didn't go far enough in nullifying election

56% say Trump bears zero blame for the insurrection

66% say he has acted responsibly

Behold the GOP's authoritarian core:

Opinion | Trump’s GOP has an ugly authoritarian core. A new poll exposes it.
Large majorities of Republicans are on board with Trump's war on democracy.

8. +1! The media propaganda is responsible for the division today.

It is a root cause of most of our problems. The other is our campaign finance (bribery) system of our politicians. They deflect the blame of our countries problems such as wealth gap from corporate America/Wall Street onto minorities, immigrants, and the poor.

To fix our country these root causes must be addressed.

that a lot of the people who took the poll just don't bother reading the news. Unless maybe it's Fox.

They believe he rightfully won and that Democrats are evil cheating pedophiles.

Further they think the protests were peaceful and all of the bad stuff was perpetrated by Antifa.

Disinformation is at the core of all of it. They are detached from reality. They can't form valid opinions because they don't have valid facts

Only the most red districts are going to be able to keep electing these nut heads.

while this poll is not good news for America overall, it is significantly better than prior polls of Republicans on Trump-related matters.

25% of 360 million is still a lot of people, though. And, unfortunately, this minority still holds far too much power in state and local governments.

13. And the economic part is important

Many of the people I grew up with are Trump supporters and the most fervent actually are doing well financially. They own their own houses, travel, etc. It gets tiresome to see this blamed entirely on economics.

18. 12/17/2020 Gallop Poll: 25% identify as Republicans.

41% independent. 31% Democrat.

So half of a quarter is 13%. If you throw in half the indies, half of all those would be @30+%.

But I doubt all the right-leaning indies would be as committed to fascistic takeover as the Republicans, because they typically are not.
