Rush Limbaugh is telling his listeners that Trump couldn't have incited the mob because the rioters first to enter the Capitol building left the Trump rally early to go start breaking in.
This is ridiculous because Trump's whole speech was inciteful and didn't rely on his last sentence to be what the mob responded to. Encouraging his listeners to form the assumption that this mob was waiting till Trump's last sentence shows how stupid Rush thinks his audience is. Those seditionists came to that rally prepared. Trump started inciting that riot well before January 6 through his tweets.
Nice try Limbaugh. You are part of the problem.
I'm posting this because I feel it is important to know what Trump's supporters are saying, so as to prepare those of you with Trump loving uncles who listen to this kind of skewed logic. It's always good to know in advance what they are thinking.

(8,059 posts)The rally was to flood the zone with regular people for the purpose of chaos and confusion and create a pretext for the REAL operations. And then to serve as a smokescreen, and then a defense and excuse afterward (well, the mob worked itself up, don'tcha know, we lost control of the crowds, poor security, etc. etc., who knew this was going to happen, it was all so chaotic!)

(8,059 posts)that the Proud Boys were at the Ellipse holding a prayer session for themselves on the evening of the 5th. I mean, why would you need prayer to stand around protesting the next day? You wouldn't, so they believed they were going into battle/danger of some sort. Trump's usual crowd of pathetic supporters were mostly just useful idiots, although a lot of THEM stormed in too, and probably fucked up the REAL Proud Boy/Oathkeeper militia ops. Like Ashli Babbitt--she wasn't in on the real plan, she was just a loon and a wanna-be.

(345 posts)I watched it all unfold on live TV, tuned in to see what was going on with the Electoral College vote. They were switching between the capitol and Trumps rally.
Trump finished, they went back to the capitol coverage. Then people started showing up outside the capitol. The crowd steadily building, both in size and aggression, commentators stating "people aren't supposed to be on those steps, or on that landing", etc., culminating with the building being breached.
The right wing spouts whatever serves their purpose, completely untethered to truth and reality.
And I guarantee that a whole, whole lot of Limbaugh's listeners saw the same thing I did, but will now accept this new fictional version of events as reality because it serves their desires. They'll reject their own "lying eyes". Hell, I'll bet some of the same reporters at certain news organizations who covered the events in real time will do the same.

(11,747 posts)The prosecution for Trump's conviction in the Senate, are not going to rely on the "Stop the Steal" rally as the only aspect of inciting insurrection. That rally was only the flash point. Trump spent the months before, and after the election telling the obvious lie that the election was stolen, and grooming his supporters to become radicalized and violent. I was watching Sam Seder the other day and they showed a clip of an interview done with the "QAnon Shaman" who said, Trump said to go, I went, Trump said to go home, I am going home. So there is at least some evidence that people were acting on words from Trump to engage in the storming of the Capitol.

(3,248 posts)He said the 2016 election was rigged if he didn't win.
He falsely claimed there were 3 million illegal votes that cost him the popular vote in 2016.
He started talking about the 2020 election being rigged long before November.
And, he also claims the Georgia runoff election was rigged too. That was part of his speech before the riot.
This idiot has a pattern. He lies. His followers eat the lie, and it is destroying our country.
The thing that amazes me is the group think that enables his followers to be fooled so much.
