(18,130 posts)We can give Tommy Tuberville a pass for now since he's new and doesn't know anything about the government. But Johnson is just a plain idiot.
As the say over on the Wisconsin forum on reddit, "Fuck Ron Johnson!"

He does not get a pass.
They are co equals among idiots.

(16,940 posts)Like the debate years ago when Rick Perry said he wanted to do away with three cabinet positions and when asked what ones, he could only name 2.
(But he fixed it - he went and bought glasses to wear to make him look smarter.....)
Thank goodness.
And both ought to be investigated too.

(18,486 posts)One of the reasons we need to have a Democratic majority, even if that means electing some Democrats who aren't as liberal as we want them to be.

(18,486 posts)Joe Manchin might be conservative but the fact that he has a D after his name means we control the Senate.

(7,638 posts)I dont think he will. He has been a democrat for decades. He's got the power as a democrat in terms of being able to negotiate with Schumer and his constituents keep reelecting him. He has no reasons to switch to republican.
keithbvadu2
(36,949 posts)The GOP is probably promising him the moon if he switches.
He has some serious bargaining power.

(16,940 posts)In the first 2 years of his administration he did have both House and Senate majorities, BUT......
there were DINO's - Democrats In Name Only - AKA: Blue Dogs. They knew that the Dems needed their votes but they were on on-board with the more left-thinking wing of the party. So, they made deals, held hostages, etc. It is TRULY amazing that PRESIDENT OBAMA and the Dems were able to pass the ACA - TRULY!!!!!
So that's where we are again, AT LEAST WE'VE got the majorities and able to chair committees - that's a good thing! As for Manchin - yeah, we need him - but he needs the Dems too. I'm sure he'll pick his battles, as will other Dems when the majority is so close.
BUT - it's better than it was!!!!!!!
