(15,805 posts)Now they need a cabinet level post for IT, "Information Technology," that would cover anything related to computing technology, such as security issues, networking, hardware, software, the Internet, and the people that work with these technologies, including hackers.
Everything we do is wrapped around digital technologies. It's too important a field to be left out of the cabinet.

(33,525 posts)It was Nobel Laureate Glenn T. Seaborg. Seaborg's scientific heft played a huge role in the negotiations for the atmospheric nuclear test ban treaty in 1963.
Seaborg's relationship with all of the Presidents from Truman to Clinton is detailed in one of his many books:

In my opinion there should be a formal Secretary of Science and Engineering. To a limited extent, the Department of Energy and the Department of Health and Human Services covers these, but these departments are seldom led by scientists. An exception of course, would be Steven Chu, who was, in my opinion, one of Obama's more inspired choices.

(3,282 posts)position. But not an actual cabinet position. So it won't be in the line of succession and the appointment won't require Senate confirmation. This would be similar to the Chief of Staff, DNI, CIA Director, Trade Representative, etc.

Another is a worldwide respected Social Scientists, who applies her expertise in the medical field, she is the Deputy Director of the new White House Science Cabinet post.
