Would believe Trump over Jesus for credibility...

About 2:55 on the timeline.

"Let me tell you," he continued. "If Jesus Christ gets down off the cross and told me Trump is with Russia, I would tell him, hold on a second, I need to check with the president if it is true. That is how confident I feel in the president."

... both Biden and Clinton won the "white vote" too.

The white evangelicals keep trying to return this country to the Dark Ages, or perhaps only back to the times of the Salem witch-hunts.

Evangelicals were already "pushy" even before their alliance with the GOP, feeling obligated to convert everyone else to THEIR WAY.

Live and let live? Nope, they can't do that!

Edit: And since conversion of others is so fundamental to them, it's insatiable! If everyone in this country magically adopted their current beliefs at the snap of a finger, that wouldn't end it. They'd then modify their cultural desires to create outsiders who need converted! Thus their ideas of "purity" continue to narrow, they will inevitably "eat their own", and they'll never be satisfied.

that Evanglicals are naturally attracted to an Autocrat.

They do not seek a leader...They seek a KING... just like Jesus.

A king takes away all of the gray area decisions that one must wrestle with in life. An authoritarian strongman (religious or political) defines right and wrong on all issues in binary terms. Followers trade freedoms and free will for the comfort of certainty and lack of responsibility for the choices ceded to the "king".

It is much harder to be a human living with ambiguities and uncertainties. The easy strategy is to turn over those difficult decisions about how to live your life to a strong cult-like leader who allows you to live as a child.

Imagine where America would be right now if we didn't have that ball and chain dragging us back.
