My daughter married into a big Puerto Rican family. My SIL is Nuyorican but his mom was born on the island and he has relatives down there active in the statehood movement. He is a tower tech and was in the first group of volunteers that went down after Maria. Before Maria he and my daughter had talked about moving down there when their youngest was ready for HS but the schools have been so screwed over since then that it's no longer a possibility. Statehood would make it possible again.

I trust the Guard members from Puerto Rico more than I do the ones from Arkansas and Mississippi who have also been brought it.
