The Most Expensive Art Exhibit Just Went Up In Grand Central, And It Has An Unusual Medium
It comes with a bit price tag, but not one that's larger than the price college students pay after four years to get their diplomas.

Natural Light Beer doesn't exactly conjure up images of lavish art museums and priceless pieces of artwork but the company, also known as Natty Light, is in the process of changing that. If the company's first official art installment in Grand Central Station is an indication, Natty Light is well on its way to doing just that. The artwork is in direct tribute to college students everywhere, as the brand has become somewhat of a commodity on college campuses and has been for some time now.
Being referred to as the 'most expensive' piece of artwork in the world, the components that make up the large piece are, indeed, one of the most expensive things most college kids will spend money on next to a house. The installation, which is part art and part social statement, is now bringing attention to the rising cost of college tuition and the fact that many students start their lives, and enter the 'real world' with an amount of debt that's striking. However, the real attention-grabber isn't the artwork itself but the medium that has been used to create it. And now, it's not painted or sketched.
The piece, entitled Da Vinci of Debt is appropriately named for the statement which it makes, and it does, rather bluntly. Natural Light wasted no time in securing 2,600 diplomas from graduates across the country for this art piece, which was created as a way to raise awareness about how much debt college costs students every year. With an amassed debt that comes out to $470 million, that's also what this art exhibit is estimated to cost based on the average amount of money spent on college educations after four years. Although it might not seem like it, that does outrank any piece of art ever auctioned off, making this the most expensive piece of artwork, theoretically and literally, in history.
