The sheer magnitude of producing vaccines for containing

Covid19 are staggering. Producing 5,000 doses a minute for an hour - 300,000 - for a 24 hour day -
7,200,000 - every Billion doses needed takes 139 days.

I pulled the 5000 a minute out of the ether - had to start somewhere.

This is a Herculean undertaking. Factor in packaging, shipping, distribution and inoculating everywhere it becomes even more staggeringly complex to me.

that will continue to rise. So each day control is delayed will add at least a couple thousand deaths in the U.S.

But add in the desperately tragic news that 2 Chinese vaccines that don't need refrigeration have been discovered to lack acceptable efficacy, one 52% as I recall. Many poorer nations around the planet have been purchasing millions of doses for their populations.

That means not just an enormous toll in lives but increase of already extreme competition for vaccines that work well enough.
