question for DU legal eagles:

If trump's impeachment trial is held off for a period of time, can the House add articles? Kind of the way all the people being arrested for the insurrection at the Capitol can expect to have additional charges added between now and their court date?

thank you. I would like to see the entire oxford dictionary-sized book thrown at the motherfucker.

the more complicated the impeachment proclamation is, the longer it will take to be processed in the Senate. The one charge they make is more than adequate for conviction. Keeping it simple was their reasoning, and it is good reasoning.

Remember, without a pardon that is valid, Donald J. Trump will be liable for federal prosecution after leaving office. I do not believe that a self-pardon would pass muster in the SCOTUS. No criminal can excuse himself from penalties. That will be the rule applied.

If they added more articles, it seems logical they’d have to vote again.

Not a legal eagle, however....

The senate could vote for removal and/or ban him from running again.

I’ve read that he could lose pension and secret security protection but don’t know is for both or just removal or even if it’s true.

the punishment remains the same. The benefit to my mind is having all of his crimes exposed and documented. people don't know this about him.
