A sitting Congresswoman is *explicitly* stating that in our government Christianity comes before democracy.
This is how people openly recruit for theocratic autocracy. These are the words.
This is what it looks like.
Rep. Vicky Hartzler

On #ReligiousFreedomDay, we are grateful for our God-given rights to worship freely as our Founding Fathers intended.
Recent events have shown how important it is to preserve and protect these cherished freedoms. Coming together starts with our faith in God not the government.

(32,688 posts)talk about which form of Christianity, which church and what form that faith takes.
Lots of wars over that in the history of Christianity.

(82,849 posts)House the homeless? Treat the sick? I mean, isn't that what the gospels say it means to be followers of Christ? Hold all property in common, distributing to anyone who is in need? That's what the apostles did. Paul said Christians should above all serve one another in love. Outdo one another in showing kindness and charity. Is that what Vicky is talking about? I suspect not.

It is to be remembered that the Barlow translation is that which was submitted to the Senate (American State Papers, Foreign Relations, II, 18-19) and which is printed in the Statutes at Large and in treaty collections generally; it is that English text which in the United States has always been deemed the text of the treaty.
However the Arabic and English texts differ, the Barlow translation (Article 11 included) was the text presented by the President and ratified unanimously in 1797 by the U.S. Senate following strict Constitutional procedures. According to the American legal scholar Francis Wharton the original document was framed by an ex-Congregational preacher.

(12,480 posts)her beliefs will warp her judgement on the job.
I remember seeing a video when John Kennedy was running they asked him if his catholic beliefs would cloud his judgement and he had to reassure the public that his religion would take a back seat regarding his job? What happened to asking that question? What has made this question taboo for asking people running for office today?People need to keep christianity in churches only.

To those people, "freedom of religion" means the freedom to force your religious beliefs upon others.

He also believed in freedom and democracy. He believed in both and. Also, there is no real love without freedom. A forced marriage is not love and you cannot be a Christian without real love for God and neighbor. If you remove that you are left with empty tribalism and idolatry.
In a democracy we value ALL of our neighbors equally with ourselves. That is a very Christian thing to do.
