Inauguration Day is just a few days away, and while this year's events will look different thanks to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and heightened security in the District following the Capitol riot on January 6, some D.C.-area businesses are offering special menu items to help you safely celebrate from home.
Beloved ice cream shop Ice Cream Jubilee has rolled out four special inaugural flavors with nods to President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
Biden's two flavors are vanilla chocolate chip and Cuppa Joe, made with locally roasted beans from Zeke's Coffee. The Harris flavors are cardamom amaretto and rose mimosa, a non-dairy sorbet.
"Our flavors for Vice President-elect Kamala Harris include nods to her California home (and wine country and almond farms) and to her Asian American heritage. Our flavors for President-elect Biden are classic ice cream flavors that are his favorites and are beloved by all, the shop said in a blog post.

(12,480 posts)Always try to gross each other out by discribing gross foods.
Vinegar ice cream got quite a few ugghs. You don't wanna know how awful some of our imaginary bad food combos can get.lol.
The other weird thing we do is conversations but they are Laurie Anderson Lyrics. The loser of the game can't think up a lyric to reply with.we have had Laurie Anderson conversations that have gone for hours.
We always open a game by saying the lyric"paradise is exactly where you are right now only much much better.."
Here's a random tune of hers to get you started..

(51,611 posts)Probably the last time was when her husband Lou Reed died. Listening to her reminded me of him and made me sad. But listening to her just now was not sad at all. Maybe I am finally over it. Thank you!
I have always tried strange foods. I would eat squid and frogs legs and snails at our home while growing up. I started watching Tony Bourdain's travel/food shows in 2001 and he got me to try all sorts of things. When a Filipino parent of a student brought me 2 baluts she was so surprised to learn that I had already eaten some (they are chicken or duck embryos in the eggshell and they are steamed when 17 days old). They are eaten with vinegar and salt. I find Asian food to have the most unusual combinations, even with ice cream. Bean, yam or durian ice cream is interesting.

(12,480 posts)You brought back the memories of the weird food we had at home
I remember eating squid in a tomato sauce with peppers onions ect. And steamed green cat tails for lunch in school. It was dinner leftovers. People freaked the fuck out, watching me eat tentacles and black spaghetti with it. Only 1 of my freinds tried it and he liked it. There were not many weird foods around in a small suburb in the mid late 70's. Love frog legs just wish they were bigger/ had more meat on them. Love them drenched in butter.

(31,261 posts)Anything that has soft caramel or pralines in it lures me like a moth to a light. So none of the flavors listed would be a favorite for me, other than two people that I really like love those flavors.
