Trump Plans to Issue 100 Pardons on Last Day

President Trump is preparing to issue around 100 pardons and commutations on his final full day in office Tuesday, a major batch of clemency actions that includes white collar criminals, high-profile rappers and others but — as of now — is not expected to include Trump himself, CNN reports.

all crimes against the united states. There aren't exceptions.

If you are saying that because trump is a co-conspirator or under impeachment for that crime, it doesn't list those as exceptions in the constitution. Those questions have never been tested in court and scotus can't be trusted.

He has the power to pardon anyone for any federal crime. But any restrictions would have to be worked through the courts and ultimately scotus.

He will be admitting it was an insurrection for which he would derive an unwarranted benefit. It will tie him to the crime. The pardons will carry a more significant conspiratorial implication. It would help the Feds make a criminal case against him. And that should be his biggest worry.

Plus, it may be just enough to piss off enough of the Senate to convict him there too.

Not astute, fairly obvious. And now it fits perfectly with his cowardice in skeedaddling out of town.

Disgusting last stunt of his. Last, because flying out on Wednesday is incredibly lame.

Clinton waited until inauguration day itself to issue over 140 pardons. The recipients included his brother, Henry Cisneros (who had served in Clinton's cabinet), Susan MacDougal (jailed during the Watergate investigation) and, most famously, Marc Rich.

Not defending Trump or the practice--just pointing out the history of the practice.

were sympathetic compared to the DRUMPF mob. And in RICH's furor the word would be INfamous, not famous.

And equalizing DRUMPF with all presidents *does* take on the tinge of defending him, especially when you single out CLINTON so specifically. Why not Poppy BUSH over his?

My teeny bit of self bragging was tongue in cheek far from proportional to your history. Especially when my topic was not mentioned other than by me that I saw, despite the predictability you so diminish it with.

And I've learned, painfully, that when a point has to be haggled over to never ending replies, it's not a discussion, just a worthless avoidance that the parties should not be together.

Quite the opposite. If a president is going to use the pardon power they shouldn't wait until doing so is consequence free.

It makes the rest of the Constitution seem like it applies to the minions while the executive branch can operate without regard to the law and wipe it away with one signature. A horrifying oversight.
