(54,445 posts)Take me out to the brawl game
Disenfranchise and cheat
Send a big sum to my SU-per PAC
If I win, you get ten times that back!
So lets root, root, root for the right wing,
If we dont win Ill spread blame
For its one, two, recounts I lose,
Thats the whole brawl game!
It got edited out (probably for length reasons, I never found out why).
At least they let me do the reading!

(54,445 posts)Wrote and read it. TFT in Atlanta did the music, and the Parody Project did the video.

(54,445 posts)Although, I tell you, it's better to work for people who aren't interested in bribes than for people who are.
To give you an idea, several years ago, we had an employee who somehow got turned into a fanatic "Christian," and he started spending more time trying to convert people to his religion than doing his job. His wife left him, and he just wasn't a good man to have around the office any more (in those days, we only had the one in Dallas plus me running Germany and France). They fired him, but had pity on him, and kept him on the payroll on paper at minimum wage so that he wouldn't lose his health insurance while searching for another job.

But we finally went with "voted out"
It was a difficult call, let me tell you!

(16,940 posts)Great stuff - really enjoyed it (how do you get a video clip autographed?)!
But (yeah, I know, "Anything before the 'But' is BULLSHIT!" ), I must say, and I do NOT mean this in ANY negative way, I could hear the text being recorded by that guy that was the "voice of the NFL" - John Facenda - who sounded like GOD himself (we're just guessing here about THAT part .....).

(54,445 posts)Don't forget, I live in Germany, so we have a completely different set of media here.
Don't get too impressed by being in contact with the author. SOMEbody has to write this stuff, and with the lockdown here in Europe, I gotta do SOMETHING with my time. I was lucky enough to find a studio here in Düsseldorf that was open so I could record it here, sent it to Atlanta for some musical background, and they sent it to the Pacific Northwest and Mexico (the video guy commutes) for the visual portion.
Welcome to the internet age of studio recording. About ten years ago, the Guardian, the English Newspaper, asked me to do a music parody on one of their politicians. I said sure, but I had never heard of the guy. They told me about him, so I made up some lyrics to the tune of a well-known English sea shanty. My TFT friends in Atlanta took a guitar track I had laid down last time I was there, and filled in the instruments to sound like an informal bunch of musicians in an English seaside pub. They sent the track via email to a studio here in Düsseddorf. I went in to record the lyrics, but I was sick with the flu.
I did it anyway, and, after about four tracks on top of each other, sounded like a bunch of hoarse, drunken British sailors, which turned out to be perfect for the occasion. We sent the vocal track back to Atlanta for mixing, and they sent the finished track over to the Guardian, who did a primitive cartoon video to it. They put it up on their website, and left it there for years. Something like 90% of the British parliament ended up seeing it, so I guess the politician must have been a guy about whom no one in their government had a neutral opinion (his name was John Prescott). It was all great fun, and the Guardian gave us (The Freedom Toast) proper credit for the song. I'm sure 90% of the people in the UK who heard it were completely baffled as to how a group of Americans in Atlanta could sound like a bunch of drunken English sailors, or had ever heard of John Prescott to begin with.

(16,940 posts)Have a good friend who is "DEEP" into the classical music realm (top-5 world symphony player) and is doing amazing stuff through the web now with associates throughout the world. Amazing times for sure!
Again, thanks for the follow-up - and here's John Facenda - the NFL "Voice of God!"

(113,585 posts)I submitted the sound track for another, check back in a day or so to see if PP puts it out. Or, if you want to move things along, say you were in touch with the Freedom Toast via DU, and were told that "Slip Sliding Away" was in the works.
