I play golf with my father on weekends

I like to go to the beach and, in safer days, Disney, with my mother.

We are politically aligned on every issue, so we talk about politics a lot. Never, however, have we tried to overthrow the government together, or even seriously discussed it.

The amount of insurgents who were there with their adult children is mindblowing. The number of adult insurgents there with their parents is mindblowing.

I will stick with golf and the beach and Disney.

No parents, no relatives, no friends talked about going to DC to overthrow the government because somebody won that shouldn't be president.

2. We grew up in the country, so we know all about guns

We have folks we know who were in MIL INTEL. We are all intelligent, and like you said, to plan this better than the fascists. But we don't. We seethe and GOTV and play golf and play in the waves and ride Tower of Terror and bide our time.

My parents would turn me in if I did this garbage, not drive me and buy the snacks.

10. I was thinking about this.

Looking at all these photos and videos of hate-filled young people, I wonder how many of them heard a barrage of complaints and vile slurs from their parents against President Obama while they were growing up.

A 22 year old today was 10 years old when President Obama was inaugurated. They were 18 when Trump was inaugurated. How much vile racism did those children hear from their families during their formative years?

Who knows she's a Hufflepuff, so I think for some folks it's jarring she doesn't like some "hillbilly." Like you, it's obvious many were radicalized at home during the Obama Admin.

13. Way too many people assume that white conservatives are nonviolent.

It seems to be one of our most pervasive myths. People of color and "leftist radicals" are assumed to be violent, and white conservative "patriots" are assumed to be nonviolent and law abiding.

White America needs to wake up to some hard truths about our friends, neighbors and relatives.

14. I went with my mother to civil rights demonstrations.

She made sure i was aware of the dangers to us and it was my choice to go. She saw it as a teaching tool. It cemented my feelings about social justice and people who peacefully protest. What happened on the 6th was not a peaceful protest, it was an attempted coup. Not even close to the same thing.

If I had done that my Mom would have been mortified. As someone said, she wouldn't be taking me and get me snacks, she would have smacked me into next week.
