I read somewhere the words "gloom and despair" in the whitehouse and now my brain is stuck.

(22,913 posts)Gotta fight them like you would forest fires, kind of like using managed controlled burns to counter them. Yes, this is dangerous, because the counter/neutralizing ear worm can escape detention and become a major infection instead if not handled properly.
I use this song personally. Yes it's an ear worm, but it is a fairly innocuous one, bordering on fun. In my experience it quickly self extinguished because it doesn't have enough substance to persist, and then blessed silence!.

(34,115 posts)My personal earworm chaser is the ever popular Sleigh Ride. We have to play a holiday concert every year and one of our board members complains loudly if we do not play that piece. While it can be annoying as can be as it's own brand of earworm I have finally gotten it out of that mindset and can use it as an earworm combatant.
Yours I could deal with better, maybe a switch out. Thanks, I would much rather deal with your song than Sleigh Ride although it does work for me.
