The first bill of the new Democratic Senate majority is the For The People Act, which strengthens democracy and expands voting rights.
The bill is comprehensive it deals with prohibiting dark money in politics, expands early and mail-in voting for federal elections, and tackles voter intimidation.
The most fundamental change is the proposed modernization of the voter registration system:
Requires each state to make available online voter registration, correction, cancellation and designation of party affiliation.

(8,059 posts)condone audits whenever there is question. There have to be penalties for "scrubbing" the voter rolls without audit of the rights of the individual being scrubbed.

(10,231 posts)Historically Dems are much more inclined to break ranks, we don't have that unshakable adherence to the party like the rethugs They will still do all they can to foil efforts by the Dems. At 50/50 just one Dem who breaks ranks could kill something. Lets not get too giddy yet.
