He's been around for a long time, ran for national office 4 times(?) and would always campaign for other Dem candidates.
Did you meet him? Do you have a story to tell?
I live in Iowa, so I have be gifted with the caucuses. I am not here to argue about the caucuses, bu they have given me the opportunity to shake lots of aspiring candidate hands. Friends in a nearby town owned a B&B. Biden would always make a stop when he was in the area.
Thanks to that I was able to meet Biden 3 times as I recall.

(43,189 posts)Briefly greeted him as I passed him backstage at the 2006 Florida Jefferson Jackson Dinner when he was a senator and was giving the keynote address. Gave me a huge and genuine smile in the two seconds we interacted.

(31,035 posts)We had a small staff, and I covered him and Beau for years. Beau was a prince of a guy. And like almost everyone in Delaware I have a personal Joe Biden story. I was injured covering a parade once, nothing too much, but I needed stitches. he took care of me, sent his White House physician over, it was while he was Vice President. later he called me at the hospital while I was being stitched up and eventually autographed a photo that I sent him with a nice inscription and sent it back. He was always a great subject to cover. Ive seen him in many different situation. Hes the real deal

(31,035 posts)He was sitting outside at a coffee shop talking to Jill just before he announced for president. He wasnt schmoozing like he usually does, and he looked very serious. I told everybody after that that he was going to run.

(58,785 posts)that I know of with 4 people who do a lot more, one who at one time saw him fairly often for a while. But I realized a long time ago that that person chats a lot without saying much. Professional discretion is really boring.

(12,265 posts)When he talks to you, even for a moment, you felt like he really saw you and talked to you. I talked to him about cancer research, why it was so important to my family, losing my mom at 19 years of age. He is truly amazing, may the Secret Service protect this special human.

(62,433 posts)I met with Gov. Bullock's top staffer when he ran last year. He lived across the street from "Steve". He had lived across the street from Steve most of his life.
What a cool relationship to have such a neighbor.

(68,632 posts)He is a wonderful man and really helped my middle daughter who has anxiety. She was having an episode this was in 08 when Clinton and Biden came instead of Obama who was in Jersey because of Sandy...she started having a meltdown and would have been tossed if he had not personally moved her to a VIP seat...the people were kind of penned in with metal fencing in an old factory which was pretty crowded. I was working the venue. That was not the only time...I talked to him on the phone a couple of times too... I adore him. The kindness and decency just flows off of him. He spoke with my daughter with such kindness and understanding that honestly, it made her feel as if she could beat this and she did.

(5,271 posts)A small group of us toward end of line who weren't able to enter the full auditorium for his speech were instead ushered into another nearby small room not knowing what would happen.
Before the big event started, Joe entered our room where many of us were able to stand around him taking pictures just a couple of feet away and greet him. He apologized for the auditorium already being full and after just a few remarks told us to go outside and enjoy the beautiful day, which I did as I took a long walk along nearby creek close to the University thinking about his warm kindness (and of course his blue eyes in contrast with his crisp white shirt and blue jacket.)

(1,292 posts)in 2012. She was an Obama volunteer in Florida in 2008 and 2012. She has a lovely picture of her and Joe which Id post this board wasnt so backward.
She volunteered in 2020 too and was at the opening of Joes office in south Florida late last February. Got a picture with John Kerry who had the honor of opening Joes first office in the state. She was going to see Jill Biden two weeks later but that was when everything got shut down because of CV19.
She also got a kiss from Obama at his speech after his last debate in 2012. She was put in the front row, right behind the rope line. The picture was on the front page of the Sun Sentinel.
