Ever since the 6th I have been searching for a single term to describe the people who invaded our Capitol. So many words flooded through my head. Thugs. Gangsters. Insurgents. Protesters. Demonstrators. Patriots. Et Cetera.

None of those and many other words were used, but to my ear non quite captured what and what they were , collectively.

Then I heard Chris Coons in an interview somewhere on MSNBC tonight. He said they desecrated the Capitol. And that was the word. The light lit up bright and clear.

Desecrators.

And so that will be my name for them.
