it's too bad it took right up until the bitter end for Pence to realize how self-serving Trump is. All the signs were there over the past four years (and even long before that), but as long as their purposes were being served, Pence and McConnell were content to go along for the ride.

Fuck both of them.

would have been a lot further ahead if they had broomed Trump the first year. Wouldn't have been good for a more liberal country, but some of the basic stuff that doesn't work now would be working.

Pence is a nasty religious fanatic, but he also cared enough about his country to try to save it from Trump, he spent 4 years attending meetings in the White House he wasn't even invited to to try to be able to head off the craziest things Trump could do.

That our standards have deteriorated over the past 4 years.
I'm always checking myself asking, would I have thought this was notable or special 4 years ago? 8 years ago?
I include 8 years given that Trump-related deterioration began on the campaign trail.
