'I'm the laughing stock of my family': QAnon believers implode as they watch Biden getting sworn in

President Joe Biden was sworn into office on Wednesday, and some believers in the QAnon conspiracy theory have apparently realized that they have wasted years of their lives believing in a complete fabrication.

As flagged by Jared Holt of Right Wing Watch, a QAnon group chat that occurred during Biden's inauguration found many one-time faithful followers disillusioned with the false claims they had been sold over the last four years.

"Well I'm the official laughing stock of my family now," wrote one. "Awesome."

"OMG none of this was real," wrote another.

NBC News reporter Ben Collins, who has been covering the QAnon phenomenon since it first started gaining traction on social media, has similarly found devotees slowly realizing that they've been had.

Very few on the political right recognized Q as a deception until the last couple of weeks. It also looks like Sidney Powell, Lin Wood, Rudy Giuliani, and others were engaged in deception as well, with their stories of gunfights between Special Forces and the CIA in Frankfurt, Germany and discouraging Republican voters in Georgia from voting for the GOP candidates.

I’ve never understood exactly what Q was; except that it seemed darn juvenile.

Yet there are still true believers posting here on Free Republic. I question why we are so tolerant of an enemy psyops campaign being waged on this site.

Followers of the extremist ideology QAnon saw their hopes once again dashed Wednesday as President Trump left Washington on the final day of his presidency, without any of the climactic scenes of violence and salvation that the sprawling set of conspiracy theories had preached for years would come.

As Trump boarded Air Force One for his last presidential flight to Florida, many QAnon adherents — some of whom had earlier this month stormed the Capitol in a siege that left at least two QAnon devotees dead and others in jail — began to wonder whether they’d been duped all along.

When one QAnon channel on the chat app Telegram posted a new theory that suggested Biden himself was “part of the plan,” a number of followers shifted into open rebellion: “This will never happen”; “Just stfu already!” “It’s over. It is sadly, sadly over.” “What a fraud!”.....

“It simply doesn’t make sense that we all got played,” one QAnon channel on Telegram said.
