Both sides are not the same. Not at all.

As the Republican shills crawl out and start trying to reclaim their brands honor without showing any let us extinguish their final argument. Both sides don't use bothsiderism. Both sides do not point to someone else's sin and say it justifies theirs.

There other things our side does not do. One of the things we do not do is lockstep go along with the crowd. When the cop was down, the Republican mob watched and laughed as he was beaten with a fire extinguisher. In Loisville, KY, black lives matter protesters protected a lone cop when things looked bad. They probably saved that cop from a Republican hiding in the crowd trying to start issues. Galen Hinshaw was not beaten to death by white supremacist agitators because our side is not like theirs.

When they said Antifa caused the insurrection, there was an odd double thread to their language. They were ready to celebrate and claim it while being ready to blame the left if it went down badly. Yet in the Republican terrorist mob, the moderating forces from within the movement that showed itself in Loisville, did not show up. Bothsiderism is the argument Republicans use when their made up arguments fail them. This argument fails from the top and the bottom. Democrats do not celebrate or tolerate the mass incarceration of children. At the top Republicans defend perpetrators of cruelty. At the bottom Republicans defend perpetrators of cruelty. We are not the same.

And here is the final difference. When we see someone on our side that is proven to be craven, or even poorly brushed with an accusation of darkness, we look closely and get rid of them if we can find anything that even looks like a taint. The great Al Franken is a prime example of our often too zealously pursued quest for decency. Their side will only begin to see the flaws of their own folk when it is time to kick a dead horse. And in this case there is no need for any examples. Most of us can name at least ten obviously morally bankrupt, treason spewing Republicans who are still in leadership positions.

Both sides don't do it. One side points to a single example and uses it to excuse all of their blatant sins. The odds are strong that the single example was ripped apart after fact checking, but that does not matter to them at all.

Make it yours. The truth does not belong to me and the truth is that bothsiderism stinks. I want this argument to grow and in turn eliminate itself as bothsiderism dies. Bothsidism is like a crook saying, "My only fault was getting caught." It ignores guilt and anyone who uses it demonstrates their own weak ethical system based on personal convenience.
