Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe Dems did an incredible job with the planning and execution of Inaug. Day.
It was fabulous (at least the parts I got to see were). And to do it under the circumstances they were dealing with - amazing. The musicians and performers were great.
Congratulations to all who did the hard work.
I havent felt so good in a long time.
Thank you!

(7,286 posts)I somehow missed the ending though, but I saw that the entire evening concert is uploaded on youtube so I'll look for it there.

It was perfect - so well done!
Remember how great their convention in the time of COVID was?
They really can pull it off!

(24,777 posts)The mood was so consistent. Sweet, but not treacle.
Of course, Tom Hanks. The musicians, the song choices, regaling American heroes - famous and not. I wept hardest when I saw Chef Jose Andres! Teachers, front line and health care workers. And regular people.
One for the ages!
It feels like the Bidens and Kamala/Doug are precious treasures we must protect.
Oddly, I'm excited to have a wise elder as President! A progressive one, of course. I picture him in a toga, in my mind. Initially, I preferred someone young. Who, you ask?
KAMALA!!! 😍

(26,045 posts)...but I still don't know whether I did so at the general emotion of the moment, or in amazement at the planning and execution of that sequence. As someone with an M.F.A. in film and video, I thought that was brilliant producing and directing for television, building up to that moment. (For example, the earlier cutaway shot of Kamala and her husband watching the show created a subconscious feeling of "it's too bad the Biden's couldn't be seen as well, and then...BANG! And then realizing why they had Biden addressing the broadcast first and Harris later -- it seemed a bit odd in terms of priorities initially, until you realized that they needed to drive Joe back to the White House before the finale, because it was important to not just see the two of them watching the fireworks from, say, the Lincoln Memorial like the "second family," but it was vitally symbolic to see them watching it from the White House. Brilliant!)

(5,271 posts)I have no technical knowledge but was awestruck at the skillful planning and execution. Mindblowing to be watching the show live watching Joe and Jill and family also watching the show live at same time inside WH and then Kamala and Doug outdoors watching fireworks and then seeing Joe and Jill from both the back and front out on the balcony.
Wow! I was flooded with tears of emotion feeling such relief and joy and renewed hope knowing our brilliant energetic and innovative team had taken back the WH and the country after being on brink of disaster.

(118,816 posts)seems to be the only part of the job he liked. The details of planning events is not actually in the Presidential job description. It is much better left to experts. AS IS EVERYTHING ELSE IN GOVERNING!!

(4,220 posts)From the timing of the Biden's going to the church mere seconds after T**** finally shut the fuck up at Andrews, to the Bidem's watching the fireworks at the end of the night, and everything in between, it was perfect. It was a huge production all day long with a million moving parts and oh, by the way, everyone might possibly get KILLED by crazies. Mind the National Guard please...
Really, really well produced in a thousand ways....
