built upon materialism, exploitation, class division, unthinking and reactionary individualism, short term-gain thinking and instant gratification will create sociopaths...which is what I think a large chunk of the public are now. That tendency has always been with us, but the MEMEME culture we've developed has encourage the growth of it to a critical point.

Not sure that there is any way out of it, except it being bred out of our collective character over a period of time. On an individual level, personality disorders are incredibly hard to treat as they are foundational..and now we have a cultural context that reinforces and rewards those traits...so that has to change too. A culture that rewards bad behavior and lets certain classes and demographics get away with everything up to...and including...murder, and penalizes harshly those not in those favored demographics is one that sends a message of a permanent state of injustice and amorality.
