We get to choose the witnesses! Imagine seeing all the Q people testifying they ransacked the Capitol, vandalized it, were prepared to murder the vice president and our representatives, for and at the behest of Donald Trump. If we handle this right we can tar the whole rotten party for a generation or more.

(17,313 posts)Impeachment is a trial, so we're going after the leader of the insurrectionists first, his followers
may not have even been to court yet, other than arraignment.

Mr.Bill
(24,317 posts)and some Senators being absent is setting himself up as the deciding vote for conviction. And he's going to want something very big for that.

(129,398 posts)When Turtle was in charge during the first impeachment trial, he unceremoniously torpedoed the idea in the Senate rules, which was unprecedented for any impeachment trial in the history of this nation (whether for a President or federal Judge), as every previous impeachment trial featured witnesses as a matter of course.

(1,702 posts)Making all GOP donors AND businesses aware, keep reminding them, of the murderous coup attempt and threats to Democracy... and that their continued support of tRUMP and the rePUKES who supported him, support him and enabled him will DRIVE $ away from their companies and PACS.
I do not think facts alone will get the 17 rePUKES needed to convict tRUMP ....UNLESS their donations dry up companies continue to cut ties with them.

(6,562 posts)I think a lot of time will be spent on his first defense. And that is, whether we have a Constitutional right to try him after office. The witnesses will be scholars and such.
And then, we will be able to present evidence about his part in the riot and attempt to overthrow the Gov. I am hoping that we can include his little tap dance with the Georgia SoS.
It is very important that we convict him, so to prevent him from ever coming back. Plus, as an example...we musn't lose our head of steam to try him and convict.
