CDC changes COVID19 vaccine guidance to allow mix Pfizer, Moderna shots in 'exceptional situations

"[E]very effort should be made to determine which vaccine product was received as the first dose, in order to ensure completion of the vaccine series with the same product. In exceptional situations in which the first-dose vaccine product cannot be determined or is no longer available, any available mRNA COVID-19 vaccine may be administered at a minimum interval of 28 days between doses to complete the mRNA COVID-19 vaccination series,” the guidance reads.

It underscores that the two shots are not interchangeable and that the CDC has not fully studied whether mixing and matching the two vaccines would impede the effectiveness of either shot."

The CDC also made a similar statements regarding it would perhaps be ok to delay the second dose one or two weeks later than the recommendation.

It is this kinds of messaging that can mess things up badly.

There should not be a situation where they cannot determine which vaccine product was received as the first dose, or if the first dose type is no longer available. There should be a national database to keep track of that, and if they don't have something like that in place that is incompetence plain and simple.

The Biden administration should really not allow this to happen, and if they do, then they are really dropping the ball.

Just a few days ago Dr. Fauci commented on the CDC recommendation that it was "ok" to delay the second dose a week or two later than the recommendation, by saying that is not appropriate because it wasn't tested that way, and people are taking a chance.

someone screwed up.

Just like some in the CDC saying that "it is ok to go a week or two" beyond getting the second dose. Dr. Fauci already said that was wrong, and I have no doubt he will even be more against the mix and match nonsense that is be suggested

I really hope the Biden administration gets on top of this, because this has the potential to come back and bite them, and actually hurt people

Yes, we are essentially in a learning posture but we can not tweak the administration phase to "fix" a supply issue....I see a carry over of the CDC reacting/ being hesitant as they had to be under the tRump control measures and not trusting their science...it appears to of had an effect on them at the CDC. Maybe the good ones left, or were let-go something along those lines...

Secondly...I'm not sure the two vaccines, Moderna and Pfizer are equal and generic. saying interchangeable.... they are Messenger vaccines...Look at it this way...Apple and Android do the same thing but are different... .

His doctor discovered mistake and had my friend take antibody test my friend has the highest level of antibodies that this doctor has seen
