Tom Cotton Blasted for Claims About Being an Army Ranger by Lawmaker Who Was One

Arkansas Republican Senator Tom Cotton was criticized by a Democratic lawmaker who served as a U.S. Army Ranger, after Cotton was accused of misrepresenting his military record during his first run for office.

Colorado Democratic Representative Jason Crow called out the GOP Senator on Twitter Saturday, following a report that said Cotton previously embellished the truth about being an Army Ranger.

"Hey@SenTomCotton, unless you wore one of these berets you shouldn't be calling yourself a Ranger. Truth matters," Crow wrote.

Crow served in the Army's elite 75th Ranger Regiment during tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, and tweeted an image of himself wearing the distinctive Ranger beret.

Lies that are easily discovered and exposed. I can only speculate that Cotton thinks that we're all mentally defective and gullible enough to swallow any BS they say.

Let this be the motto of the moment: TRUTH MATTERS

I commanded the Sixth Fleet and when I was captain of the nuclear sub, I was the individual upon whom Tom Clancy based his fictional character.

Yeah...Sixth Fleet...that’s the ticket....

Did Arkansas newspapers, Arkansas Dems, and his opponents fail to check his background?

What happened to opposition research? You can’t take repugs at their word.

What's the point of a Ranger tab? Doesn't it identify you as a Ranger?

Do you have to be in the 75th Ranger Regiment to be a "real" Ranger? Is there a term for someone not in the Ranger Regiment who wears a Ranger tab? "Wannabe"?

I think the 75th Ranger Regiment was formed long after this Bozo was handed his release papers. But there were Ranger-tabbed individuals even in those primitive days.

If he did, he was technically a Ranger even if he didn't serve in a Spec Ops Regiment.
