Whites, the groups website says, are genetically superior in civilization building and should always have the majority of power and influence in the nations founded and built by our European ancestors.
The Sovereign American Project began recruiting in August and was flagged to the FBI in recent days.
The groups leaders envision an America separated, as in the days of segregation, demanding the end of forced integration between races, according to their website. Their goals: dismantling affirmative action programs and other policies that are detrimental to Whites; undoing the fallacy of feminism and gay rights movements; and reversing multiculturalism, which the groups website calls a pressure cooker ... not a melting pot.
Hate group monitors and experts said the Sovereign American Project stands out because of its international network, with allies in the Ukraine and Portugal; an online sophistication in covering its tracks; and its brazen incorporation as a social welfare nonprofit with an address on Clematis Street, the main street of West Palm Beach.

Trump was just a charismatic demagogue who could get them riled up.

(16,616 posts)various forms of support from counterparts foreign countries (including from very high up, as is the case with Viktor Orban and Putin) and, regardless of whether these groups are racist or Christian nationalists, the list of nations supporting them often has the same suspects:
Hungary
Russia
Georgia
Ukraine (often Russian Ukrainians, though)
Poland
Now, Portugal is mentioned in this article.
This fatal connection with international backers is something discussed in both Sarah Posner's book Unholy and also touched upon in Katherine Stewart's book The Power Worshippers, and they also explain the toxic overlap between the Christian Nationalists and the White Supremacists--who disagree on particulars but find common ground with the idea of rejecting Democracy in favor of a nation where everyone looks and worships as they do.

In the unlikely event Zen Buddhists sought Russian financing to create a group of violent extremists in the U.S., Putin would probably be too happy to help.

Civilization building. Oh, that's rich. Reminds me of a long past uncle of mine. A family genealogy aficionado. He was also a general history fan to the nth degree. Back in the 80's, I made some half ass quip about Middle East terrorism and society in general. He quickly set me straight. They were one of, if not the, most advanced civilization on the planet when our people where ragged illiterates, living in stone and thatch hovels, running around fighting our neighbors and stealing each other's cattle. So show a little respect, will you? The renaissance of science, mathematics and medicine didn't hit Europe until the 15th century, and didn't make it to our people until the 18th century. Arabs and Persians were a 1000 years or more ahead of us. And if you think we're the most advanced now, ask the Romans how that works.
Whenever I hear the old Sting song, All This Time, I'm reminded of that..."but their empire crumbled and all that was left were some stones the workmen found."
