General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI, for one, cannot wait to hear the campaign-promises of the next republican presidential candidate.
What will he promise?
Will he promise to be good for the economy?
George W. Bush and Donald J. Trump both promised to be good for the economy and how did that turn out?
Will he promise to reduce the national debt?
George W. Bush and Donald J. Trump both promised to reduce the national debt and how did that turn out?
Will he promise to get rid of the Affordable Care Act and replace it with a better, republican alternative?
Donald J. Trump promised to do that, and Republicans in general have been promising to do that since 2010.
Will he promise to be tough on crime, to be tough on terrorism?
That will be a hard sell, when your own Proud Boys and Oathkeepers and 3-Percenters are threatening to kidnap and kill politicians.
Will he promise to make the US respected again?
That will be a hard sell after Trump utterly ruined the reputation of the US.
So, I guess, this white, caucasian guy (because it definitely won't be anything else), will stick with republican core-principles:
* promising to reduce taxes while refusing to say where he would cut expenditures
* promising to reduce regulations while omitting the environmental devastation that has caused under Trump
* promising to do something about those darn immigrants
* promising to totally do something about abortion, because that is literally the only excuse Evangelicals need for voting republican
And the best part is:
The Democrats will liken him to Donald Trump, which will force him to distance himself from Donald Trump because Trump is and will be widely unpopular. And by distancing himself from Trump, he will piss off about half of the republican voters because they are Trump-fans.
