rights'Former ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley warned Monday against President Biden's pledge to rejoin the U.N.'s Human Rights Council.
In a tweet, Haley called the body a "cesspool of political bias" and warned that rejoining the committee would impede the U.S.'s commitment to upholding human rights.
"The UN Human Rights Council is a cesspool of political bias that makes a mockery of human rights. If Biden rejoins the council whose membership includes dictatorial regimes & some of the world's worst human rights violators, it will fly in the face of our fight for human rights," she tweeted.

Controversy has surrounded a number of U.N. Human Rights Council members, chiefly Cameroon which is ruled by Paul Biya, the second-longest serving African ruler who has faced criticism over the years for harsh treatment of both journalists and opposition figures.

Nikki Haley, Republican frontrunner in SC gov race, denies second affair rumor in 10 days

Larry Merchant, a lobbyist and former campaign worker for Haley's opponent in the state's Republican primary said Wednesday he had a one-night stand with her in 2008, at a conference in Salt Lake City.
Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer, who hired Merchant for his campaign and paid him more than $50,000, said in a statement that he asked Merchant to resign once he learned of the alleged relationship.
The claim comes 10 days after political blogger Will Folks said he had an "inappropriate physical relationship" with Haley.

(118,296 posts)torture centers around the world under Bush II, and under Trump our turning a blind eye to the vivisection of a Washington Post journalist and denying asylum to international refugees --- have all certainly damaged our reputation
We don't live in a perfect world, and if we really want to spread humanitarian values, we can't talk only to saints

How about that pandemic, Nik? It is a human right to live and have a President that does everything in his power to see that you do. He outright has led to the murder of 100s of thousand Americans, dead due to his inept response and out right lying to the american people. He lied and golfed. We died and will still die by the thousands as it has spiraled out of control. Talk about human rights, Nik. Trump and YOUR party have committed genocide of our very own people. AND HERE YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS!
Go to HELL.

(490 posts)The problem is that the Republicans, aided and abetted by tens of millions of their supporters and independents, have successfully lowered the bar to the point that literally anyone who is not in prison can be sold as a legitimate, fully qualified candidate for the highest office in the land.
