Gusts over 40 mph, hail, temps 20 degrees below normal. I had to hang a blanket over my window since my crappy windows let air in and I can't afford to have decent ones put in and the heat is in the damn ceiling. My upstairs neighbor is kept warm on my dollar while I am here wearing a wool beret, tights, legwarmers, socks, long johns, flannel PJs, etc. Brrrrrrrr

I never thought of that but I recall a switch when I installed it. I didn't know what the point of it was and never touch it. I am almost afraid to touch it since it is so fragile. I installed it by myself 25 years ago and did it by sense of touch since I couldn't see the wires since I was on the top step of a ladder with the box from the fan on my head allowed me to balance/hold the fan in place while my hands did the wiring. I must have been insane to even attempt it (I am low income and have to do most home repairs myself). I wonder if I touch the switch will the whole thing will fall down. It almost did in the past. Scary.

I've been in the same area since 1982. I have seen climate change happen right in front of my eyes. We never used to have this kind of weather.

Sorry to hear.

I don't know whether it's Climate Change or not
in case for my NYC Tri-State area but we in the past
oh, 15+ years have seen more Tornadoes (even if - thank goodness - they've been "weaker" ones) than we have in the previous 50 or more years.

And even beyond that bc our area has been till recently - tornadoes have been very, -very- rare!

Just take fire season. It used to be three months of the year. Now it's year-round.

We had average rain falls. Very rarely had days and nights this cold. And in the summer, we would have a few 90-degree days here and there.

Now our summers are at least three months long of 90 + degrees every day. The avocado trees cannot take that heat. They drop all the fruit with in about a week. And I'm talking somewhere near 1,000 avocados.

Two years ago we had one day where it was 116°. Last year we had days where it was 110°.

Then add in the droughts. The home I'm living in is where my parents retired. When they moved here they didn't need air conditioning. As the summers got hotter, they had to put it in.

Plants that used to happily grow here, don't like it anymore.

When you live in one place for a very long time, you really do notice the changes. And they are severe changes. That's why I say it has to be climate change.

But I will definitely take my earthquakes over your tornadoes, any day of the week. Hurricanes and tornadoes scare me half to death. If I can see it coming, I know I am going to pass out from fear. At least with an earthquake, it just happens all of a sudden.

a whole lot of 90+ degree days for 3 months! 😮 Plus those 110+ ones!

Here in NYC we get 90°+ days 2- 4 days in a row, occasionally maaaybe 95°+ 2 days in a row unfortunately often with higher humidity though not always.
We also have a lot of mid+ 80's w, w/o high humidity.
The best is 💖 low 80°'s with low humidity.

As far as tornadoes go seems like we get 1-3? weaker ones a year now in contrast to one ?every 10 years or so! And they're not like the really terrifyingly wide, long lasting ones of the Mid-West!

So while we still get way, waaay less than the Mid West - but for us to go from 1 in 10 or more years to 1-3 every year that's quite a contrast!

We are going to get CLOBBERED. I do not recall seeing an NWS warnings map with such extensive winter storm warnings. Hope it puts a dent in what have been drought conditions.
