Kudos to them - and to Maj. Ldr. Schumer - for masterful performances.
MM saved face - Democrats get control of the Senate. The filibuster is intact, but for how long?
Well done, Democrats!

(42,334 posts)and vote with Democrats the vast majority of the time. This time, it seems they supporter Schumer (and their own beliefs) and got the job done.
I don't pretend to understand how the Senate works - unlike the random people on the internet who've been screaming at Schumer for days now. But this seems like a master stroke.

(5,315 posts)Looked to me like the dems were getting punked by McConnell. Looks now like I was wrong about that. I'm happy to be wrong.

(43,420 posts)Manchin, Sinema, and quite likely others (Feinstein at the front of that group, based off multiple times she will not vote to do away with it) will not vote to do away with it.
He gains nothing but grief from continuing to stop the basic housekeeping, and he really had to concede almost nothing, other than this (quite likely) window dressing.
Feinstein a few months back:
FEINSTEIN on ending filibuster and expanding SCOTUS: I don't believe in doing that. I think the filibuster serves a purpose. It is not often used, it's often less used now than when I first came, and I think it's part of the Senate that differentiates itself.
