(913 posts)1) Mitch only wanted one or two Democrats to publicly promise they wouldn't ditch the filibuster. And he got that.
OR
2) Mitch and Schumer struck a deal where they will put some sort of new filibuster language in the organizing resolution, in a way where both can claim victory.
My guess is it is (1), but we'll see.

(4,673 posts)the organizing issue by a nuclear option on just that issue without having to nuke the filibuster anyway. McCaskill pointed out this could be done so McConnells position was always a pita one that could in the end be circumvented.
