'THIS IS ME': Rioters flaunt involvement in Capitol siege

In dozens of cases on social media, Trump supporters downright flaunted their activity on the day of the deadly insurrection

Via AP news wire

These suspects weren't exactly in hiding.

“THIS IS ME,” one man posted on Instagram with a hand emoji pointing to himself in a picture of the violent mob descending on the U.S. Capitol. “Sooo we’ve stormed Capitol Hill lol,” one woman texted someone while inside the building. “I just wanted to incriminate myself a little lol,” another wrote on Facebook about a selfie he took inside during the Jan. 6 riot.

In dozens of cases supporters of President Donald Trump downright flaunted their activity on social media on the day of the deadly insurrection. Some, apparently realizing they were in trouble with the law, deleted their accounts only to discover their friends and family members had already taken screenshots of their selfies, videos and comments and sent them to the FBI.

...

A special group of prosecutors is examining whether to bring sedition charges against the rioters, which carry up to 20 years in prison. One trio was charged with conspiracy; most have been charged with crimes like unlawful entry and disorderly conduct.

This is really news to you?

No offense to the OP, but there’ve been dozens of threads on this...the social media posts, the arrests, the reporting by friends, relatives, and coworkers.

"...most have been charged with crimes like unlawful entry and disorderly conduct." Aww, give me a break, slap their hands for conspiring to kill the VP and House Speaker. Utter B.S. We are letting Trumpers still tell us what is going on.

So bloody demoralizing.

Minor charges are easy and quick. It gets them off the street or in tracked home confinement. Indictment on Felonies takes a grand jury and more time. That’s coming next. I read an interview with a Federal prosecutor saying just that.

You will start to see multiple Felony charges, perhaps even Sedition soon.

These people don't know what the justice department has in store for them, they've likely never learned how the criminal justice system works. They will be more than just a ;little inconvenienced very soon.

Justice can take time, in a case like this with thousands of suspects, I can imagine arrests will be going on throughout this year. Some of these people will live the next 8 months thinking they go away with it, then a knock at the door will come.

And that knock at the door doesn't care about convenience. They could be getting ready to go to work, taking their kids to school, getting dressed for a family wedding. The knock doesn't care that they get paid tomorrow and need to cash their check to pay a bunch of critical bills. It doesn't care that it's their weekend with the grandkids.

Everything stops. People wonder why you aren't returning calls, they wonder why you didn't pay rent, or show up to work. Their entire lives get thrown for a loop. Consequences of a surprise week in jail can be severe. Loss of job, loss of kids, loss of home, loss of vehicles. I have no illusions the bulk of these criminals will do hard time, but they're all going to see the inside of the criminal justice system and how it takes and takes. So they can laugh right now, but these things are in store for them.
