I'll start by saying I'm OK and not thinking of going that route, but I see several threads here and there of people thinking of starting a GoFundMe page to generate revenue for emergencies. As time gets rougher and rougher, I suspect we'll see more of that.
Is there a way to set up a Forum/Group where these requests could be listed where they don't get pushed off the page of GD and lose visibility? Perhaps we could set up a "quick link" to the group so those DUers who want to help can quickly go and donate to a fellow DUer. I suppose their is a potential fraud problem, but maybe there are workarounds that can be done.
Just throwing it out there. Times are hard and this community has a tradition of helping each other out. Was thinking maybe we could make that a little easier/simpler.

(11,802 posts)Me n Mrs. Glam have been fortunate. Both of us are, you know, necessary. We've donated to fellow DU folks in dire straights in the past. This is a great idea. Especially since we keep getting stimulus checks we don't really need...

(146,317 posts)GD is far from being overwhelmed with such posts, but those that are posted there are seen by a much larger group. I don't think they really disturb the forum enough to warrant shuffling them off to a Group that goes unread.

(58,670 posts)It's not that GD is getting "overwhelmed." It's that posts fall off of the first page so quickly that posts like that disappear too soon for many to see it. I understand the "group" problem, but perhaps a sticky at the top of GD referencing a group like that could alleviate that issue.
I'm just spitballing here. Thanks for your input, MM.
