The last week, Trump has been sitting at Mar A Lago, watching TV non stop seething. He sees Joe dismantling his "legacy" with executive order after executive order. He sees Fauci and Birx on TV talking about how much of a liar he is and how awful it was to work for him. He has planes flying overhead with large signs trailing them containing insults to him. Everyday, every moment is a new horror for him, but he can't look away.
And now he knows how the majority of the country felt for 4 years under Trump. Every day he did everything in his power to make us all miserable. Knowing he's sitting there, without even Twitter to whine on, and feeling the same pain and anger, is just heart warming. This man was a monster, he cannot be allowed near the office again.

(34,111 posts)his obsessive watching the media would get him in the end. Can you imagine after all these years of him reacting like a little baby to every single thing how it is eating him? He does deserve every miserable moment of his worthless life being bashed about like his beloved golf balls.
He spent years setting everything up to reflect on him like a god. Now he can see what most of us really thought of him, all that was hidden away from his enormous but very fragile ego.
Makes me laugh. In another situation I would feel bad about that but in this case there is little bad that can happen to him that will not cause me mirth. You get what you pay for in this world, Trump, and all your money was not enough for even that.
Johnny2X2X
(19,069 posts)He was going to use Twitter to do everything in his power to undermine everything Joe did as President. It would have been nonstop from him everyday with him criticizing everything Joe tried to do while bragging about himself. He was going to use Twitter to stay in people's minds. Robbing him of that is the best possible thing for the country.

(34,111 posts)I just hope that after the dust settles and we start getting into the Biden years with big changes we stop even comparing everything to the horror Trump is/was. We all know it but it still just has to work its way out like a nasty splinter. Once it is gone there will be only deep, seething anger (soreness) that is possible to keep down from conversation but causes us to all act with determination to keep moving forward.

(7,432 posts)Trump wants his opponents destroyed. He always does. So he wants to use his base to retaliate. And they will, in spite of a few obstacles, the Senate Trial being one of them. The Dems' task at the trial is not to do the minumum for conviction, but to bury Trump in material and direct evidence. They cannot rely on Senate GOPers' personal experience as witnesses and potential victims. They must present the maximum amount of evidence, and make it absolutely clear to everyone in the nation that Trump committed unforgivable crimes and must never run for office ever again.
Further, he MUST be subjected to all criminal investigations and indictments in the hopper. All of them. The DOJ/FBI must know that Trump is still a threat to the safety and security of the nation and a threat to a functioning Constitution. They must act accordingly. For Trump's prosecutions, there must be no concept of "overkill." He tried to destroy the nation. He went down that path and he must never be given the opportunity to travel it again.

(6,189 posts)If you are a republican wanting to be POTUS in 2024 why would you leave 45 with any possibility of running in 2024?
It seems to me, the smart move is to eliminate the possibility by finding him guilty in the upcoming impeachment trial (he is after all a has been) and prevent him from running for elected office.
Now as a lifelong Democrat I relish the thought of that albatross hanging around the neck of the republican party for years to come.

No longer do they stop traffic and make us sit for HOURS while he tootles around to the airport, golf, whatever. Now, he sits in traffic, too. No longer can he use a helipad. And, local attorneys are suing his ass to make him quit squatting at MaL ILLEGALLY.

Trump gets off on being "important". Those little perks are something he lived for. He loved it. He went from a staff of hundreds to a staff of a few people overnight, for most people that would be a relief, not to Trump, he lived to bark orders at people.
And not having Twitter to complain about it all is killing him.

(18,636 posts)He might try to play it cool, but anyone who has been to court for a crime, including myself, knows how nerve wracking and intimidating it is. I mean, the papers declare "State of XXX vs You". Even worse is "The United States of America vs you", and that is so humbling on a scale that leads to uncertainty and fear.
All that is nothing compared to what Trump faces, and while he won't do time over an impeachment, he will be in the history book for a hundred years. Expect descendants to change their names to Crump or something in the future.

(295 posts)...where he came from: Hawley, Cruz, Johnson...oh the list goes on cannot count the ways, from the top of the FBI and DOJ on down throughout the police state(s), and let us not forget by all means, the all amurriken corporate companies claiming to be people with fat wallets pouring our own money in vast quantities to feed the flames. And this is nothing new whatsoever. The history of white supremacy in this country has now raised Simplicity (i.e., willful ignorance), Sincerity (i.e., I'm sorry I got caught), and Immaturity (i.e., I mean c'mon just look at their behavior!) as virtues. Many white Americans in these "United" states to this day STILL feel no necessity and no obligation to grow up!

(1,331 posts)I couldn't wait to never hear another word about him, and yet I find myself wondering just what he is doing. Like when your normally yappy dog gets real quiet...what is he up to?
He may have sat watching TV and feeling sorry for himself for a time, but not long. He's too angry and hate-filled to do nothing. His mantra was if hit, hit back twice as hard. Cutting him off Twitter was vital. I don't know if he has ever gone this long without a camera pointed at him. He is disappearing from headlines. But he's not just sitting there. He hasn't taken up a hobby to kill time. He must surely have spoken to Pootie at least every day, getting advice. He is seriously hobbled; he may be down but he is far from out.
I'm actually very surprised he has not rented a venue down there and held a rally.
