McConnell: Sinema told me she won't nix the filibuster

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on Tuesday that Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) told him directly that she would not support nixing the 60-vote legislative filibuster.

McConnell's disclosure, made during a floor speech, comes after he signaled on Monday night that he would agree to a power-sharing deal with Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) to move forward in the Senate, where each party's caucus holds 50 seats.

"She opposes ending the legislative filibuster," McConnell said on Tuesday, referring to Sinema.

"Our colleague informed me directly last night that under no circumstances would she reverse course," he added.

Personally I'd like to see it eliminated but this is where we are right now.

I took a look at her contributers, from her official site, and see she has health and investment backers in mostly larger donations. https://www.opensecrets.org/members-of-congress/summary?cid=N00033983

She's a Democratic senator from a pretty conservative state.

So, she's probably a little to the left of her average constituent. That might be as much as an Arizona senator can afford at this time.

10. It would be a shame if Democrats lied like the Republicans.

You know, saying whatever works in the moment to get their way.

Then reneging as soon as it becomes an inconvenience.

I'd hate to see McConnell lose his trust in us. It could damage our relationship.

11. She didn't tell Mitch she won't nix the filibuster.

Just read what she told him, if Mitch is to be believed, and not what Mitch thinks she told him. A. She is opposed ending the filibuster, and B. she will not reverse course on her opposition to end the filibuster. Nowhere did she pledge to not vote to end the filibuster. Nowhere did she say she couldn't vote in favor of ending the filibuster despite her opposition.

If Mitch is to be believed, Mitch is full of shit. He is trying to hide his humiliating defeat behind carefully worded statements. That is, if his carefully worded statements are to be believed.

...Did I mention that Mitch is not necessarily to be believed?
