Ug, the Senate clerk spread covid handing out pens at the signing!

Senators were supposed to keep the pen she handed them or put it in a used pen box on the table after signing the impeachment trial oath book. At 2:47 PM EST One Senator (looked like Lindsey Graham, used his left hand to sign) handed his pen back to the clerk instead. She took the pen and put it in the box for him, but did not sanitize her hands after that. She used her now contaminated hands to continue handing out now contaminated pens.

Kinda defeats the purpose of giving each Senator their own pen to avoid spreading covid!

1. I wouldn't worry too much. They should have been more sanitary, but

recent studies indicate that surfaces are not a significant source of covid spread.

13. If we could easily get it from surfaces, we would all have it by now.

I don't think that surfaces are the problem. It's the human aerosol.

And should have immunity.

I carry my own pen with me and use it to sign anything.

It really wasn't even necessary for anyone to hand a pen to these senators. They know how a pen works.

Most people do not understand health and safety protocols to minimize the risk on contamination. Everyone should be required to attend a basic training session to keep themselves and those around them safe.

There should be onsite monitors available, either someone from medica,l or an industrial hygienist, to make sure standard guidelines are being followed in these large gatherings.

But it's so frustrating to see this avoidable risk to our Senators.

She wiped it down each time with the sanitizer on her desk.

This is not a big deal. The surface thing has been proven to be not as big s risk as we first thought.

As long as they sanitize their hands before touching their face they are good.
