We’re not going back and impeaching a private citizen. We are finishing the impeachment started in the House while he was president. And it’s a good point that any president could avoid punishment just by resigning before the trial happens. Can’t take these people and their convenience pretzel logic

those Domestic Terrorists (call them for what they are) said tRump asked them to walk to the Congress of course tRump incited it, they hang on his every word. "Kill Mike Pence"?. I would say the Terrorists had the intention to act on tRump's words and do major damage.

Representatives had their alarms pulled out of their desks??? WTF, and they had a noose ready???? And they are letting them go. It was a planned disgusting overthrow of the government.

motion to table - Used in both the Senate and House, if adopted a motion to table permanently kills a pending matter and ends any further debate on the matter.

Everyone knew the motion would be tabled. So in my mind the GOP votes may not be as telling as we think. I suspect Rand Paul’s argument will be a part of the defense. Just wonder if some of those 45 votes signal a desire for this issue to be debated robustly, and not not show their hand now.

Standing up to fascists is scary. Now, it's unfair to call some of those 45 Republicans quislings. Some were in bed with the Red Hats mob and probably would've got the catch-and-release treatment once the killings started. The Leader Hawley might even release the quislings back to their families after a few years.

at least they managed to add an additional trillion dollars to the nation debt each year before the pandemic and make 2-3 trillion dollar additions debt lobs necessary by mismanaging the crisis. So not all the evil they do is intentional. Some of it is mere incompetence.

Voters send these same people to Congress over and over again, when they're not sending a tea party darling or the current crop of anti-government idiots, the Qanon wackadoodles. So their voters are voting for exactly what they want America to be.

Anyone, anyone at all, that wants to drown the federal government in a bathtub is anti-America.

Anyone, anyone at all, that can support what happened on January 6, 2021 - whether through silence, active participation, protecting those involved, making excuses for it happening or for those involved, political expediency (power, greed) - they are anti-America.

That's the ugly fact. They want to turn America into an authoritative state that they control. Even those who prefer a 50 states state-rule "United States". A central government that passes laws to control the masses, with state governments enforcing those oppressive laws, in addition to whatever laws the states pass for their own citizens. And no help coming from a "federal" government in the way of social reforms or safeguards. Oh, they'll still collect taxes - because they'll continue to subsidize the wealthy.

They want the trappings of a democracy without the actual democracy.

They'll still tell the world how free Americans are, and how great America is - but the truth will be different.

It's not about different opinions, or different ideas, or even different visions for America.

It's about creating a different America. Period. One that abandons the promise of our founding ideals. One that refuses to expand and grow in knowledge and enlightenment. One that lays claim to and elevates the worst of America's history and then call that the only America that has ever existed.
