Once again, it is worth paying attention when the FBI puts out a stand-alone poster for an individual future defendant. It indicates they have evidence of serious crimes, but dont yet have what they need to make an arrest.

Notably, the FBI has circled a fire extinguisher here.

Perhaps we're looking at Sicknick's killer

(11,564 posts)Carrying it around with you "post" is strange and awful in all kinds of ways. And, from the "carrier's" POV, damned stupid. Not a good way to express a desire for, nor knowledge of, ways of self-preservation.
Doesn't stop me from wishing 3 things about the incident.
That that is the self same extinguisher and yields forensics.
That he is the perp, and the forensics include him.
That they have him in crosshairs. immediately. Whatever happens after the moment some Fibbie or other LEO locks onto him, I don't care, as long as it's extremely bad for him.

(2,650 posts)The one that threw it and hit cops was identified as a fireman, wearing a knitted cap with CFP on it, if I recall. He was older, with a grey/white goatee.
I don't know what they have on this guy, but it appears that the extinguisher is important to them, hence the circling of it.
I could be wrong, but I think we all must be careful about false info in all this.
And then charge them with the highest crimes they can within the law.

(82,849 posts)Anyone at the insurrection is not a very nice or popular person. He's almost certainly left a trail of victims to this point in his life, people he's wronged or abused in one fashion or another. One of them has just been waiting, biding her or his time until this asshole put a foot wrong that would get him locked up for a long stretch. That time has come. Someone's going to recognize and identify this guy, and life as he knows it will change for the very much worse.

These traitors will be caught eventually. They cant leave the country and there is only so much underground one can go nowadays in the internet age.

Was he later identified as not throwing the extinguisher?
Sincerely asking, as I have spent much time trying to ID some of these people, until my mind got blurry with all the many faces and details evolving.

They arrested another guy that was IDed using footage outside the Capitol when it happened. I scanned those videos and other shots for quite a while.
Corroborated by others on a research team, and the FBI arrested the guy, an ex-fireman, that tossed it into a small crowd of cops.
I left a link of the arrest story a few posts up.
This thread has several people saying not, seemingly just because of the fire extinguisher in the photo. That seems pretty lacking in evidence to make that connection.
But who am I to argue?
It could be my mistake in a couple of different ways. I might have missed an update, the guy that tossed the extinguisher that I and others IDed and that got arrested by the FBI might not have killed Sicknick and his death happened elsewhere, etc. Even though it was widely reported and an arrest made. Fog of war and all that.
I don't like to openly try to out people by committee, doxxing is serious stuff and innocent people could get hurt by false accusations. The group I worked in had some protective methodology and discipline that speculating on an open forum surely lacks. I only share in this "fun" because arrests have already been made, so we'll see how it shakes out on the public record in due time.
Now, about the guy in the OPs photo? I have no idea.
UPDATE: When I had time, I re-read a few articles, and the firman that got arrested did hit multiple cops with a fire extinguisher, but none of them were Officer Sicknick. Earlier stories pointed to the one cop without a helmet as Sicknick, but that was bad info. Just wanted to make that correction here, even though it was days old.
