Hey GOP, you have the ability to end your Trump Problem right fucking now.

Trump is pissed at many of YOU because he sees you guilty of various affronts that stopped him from keeping power. He has no use for you. He'd as soon you die as shake your hand. Think I'm wrong? Look at history. Everything he touches dies. That is soon to apply to YOUR political careers.

His threat to start his own political party is but one example. It is doomed to fail but it will kill you on its way to that inevitable end. The base you fear, embodied by the people who invaded YOUR place of work and wanted to kill some of you, don't care about you. They want him, not you. If you take him back, and continue to alienate your more moderate base (see: Women, Suburban, Former Republicans), they will follow him and you will lose.

If you let them go, you can return your party to a modicum of sanity. If you vote to convict him, you take him out. It is very early in the Biden term. Much of the damage you think you will suffer by your vote to convict will fade.

Your bigger fear ought to be the Proud Q-Anon Boogaloos who are running for local office as REPUBLICANS. The same people who killed five people in an invasion of the Capitol and were absolutely intent on killing some politicians. They will be fellow elected officials with . . . . Y-O-U.

Trump will be their godfather.

You can end that threat to YOU.

Vote to convict.

do major damage to Trump. And if they started telling their constituents the truth.

They should stand up to the bully, not enable him.

3. I just don't understand why the new republican byline isn't "We're the party of Reagan, not Trump".

Not that I like Reagan, but it would divert support from Trump. Stuff like "Reagan would never lead from behind to stop the electoral process."

6. Voting to convict wouldn't end the threat.

Trump is going to lash out at anyone who votes to convict. That should be obvious. It's not going to stop or fade out unless he ends up in prison or dies from too many Big Macs.

It wouldn't really do anything you're suggesting. The only thing it would do is show that they don't put politics and their own political futures ahead of Trump and the GOP. Good luck with that.

"If you let them go, you can return your party to a modicum of sanity."

Nope. The party is the problem, has been for decades. Trump is only a symptom.

Unfortunately most of the Republicans with the exception of Five this time around, don’t have the spine to stand up to the bully. Until that happens the Republican party is going nowhere.
