My opinion about Marjorie Taylor-Greene isn't going to be popular...

I say leave her in her House seat, let her stay in Congress.

Why?

She shows how batshit crazy "QAnon" is, and will drag the GOP further and further down a rat hole.

Just look what having Trump in the GOP did for the GOP Senate.

We have ours, though even aoc, who has cost us seats, isn't even close to the gop whacko's in anything but opposition hatred.

Hatred by the opposition is not grounds to overturn an election.

But mtg and boebart and hawthorn and cruz have surely crossed the line from being annoying creeps to criminal conspiracists.

So yeah, she needs to go, in handcuffs if possible. But not because she is a craven pig.

I would encourage you to research the 'stabbed in the back' myth. Letting batshit crazy have a legitimate voice DOES NOT lead to good outcomes. The crazy needs to be shutdown. She's had her moment in the sun. Everyone knows it is unfounded thinking. If a legitimately elected official is allowed to promulgate conspiracies those same conspiracies are given weight b/c the voice espousing those theories is an official voice.

I remember hearing people say early in the Trump administration that nobody would ever vote Republican again after his administration.

It lowers the bar overall, so that "normality" is skewed. Someone even crazier than Taylor-Greene will come in, and people will start to think "Taylor-Greene isn't really so crazy." Soon Matt Gaetz and Jim Jordan will be "the new normal."

The entire spectrum just keeps down-shifting. At some point, very intelligent people start to become the anomaly and people point at them and say, "You don't really belong. You're an intellectual elite."

She is like Trump. A clear threat to our democracy. Try to do the right thing and remove her. If unsuccessful, then run on that.

That is why I thought impeaching Trump as quickly as possible was important. All Constitutional tools were used in an attempt to restrain him. It wasn't politics - it was trying to check a clear and present danger.

The problem is that the GOP views trying to do the right thing as playing politics because most of them have no core set of values. I wouldn't have liked Pence for three years, but it would have been safer than leaving Trump in a moment longer than he was in. The most shocking thing about all this was that the GOP didn't broom Trump the first year. By not doing that they have almost destroyed this country.

A good number of republicans would have to vote to remove her and that is not going to happen. The GOP is afraid of the qanon base of the party. I support the efforts to remove this lady even though these efforts are likely to fail just to show the world that the GOP is afraid of their base

Trump did not destroy the party. The Senate Repukes feel emboldened right now. Exhibit A: McConnell still attempting to call the shots. And more Republicans in both Houses are just seeing how bad they can be.

We need strong decisive pushback by all legal means.

The House is vastly different from the Senate...and she won her district with 75% of the vote...so it isn't very likely she'll be voted out of office, not unless there's a major migration of Democrats into her district!

I tend to believe that there are more supporters of QAnon, then just Greene...and with constituents who also believe in QAnon conspiracies...that trip down the rat hole is going to take years!

As for the Senate, we'll see what happens when Warnock and Kelly have to run for reelection for a full term and not just to finish the time left by a Republican predecessor!

Leaving Taylor-Greene in that seat signifies that we're OK with the sick thinking that led to the riot and a close encounter with losing our democracy to the fascist white supremacists. How about we re-impose some sane standards in our government, starting with depriving Taylor-Greene of her position, on account of dangerous, violence-prone insanity? Or should we do the all-too-typical Democratic thing of just hoping for the best, and steering clear of offending anybody?
