Beto O'Rourke says he's thinking about running for governor
Former El Paso Congressman Beto O’Rourke this week made his strongest public statements yet that he’s considering running for governor in 2022. “It’s something I’m going to think about,” he says.

I've been wanting Julian to run for several years.

Of course I'll work with whoever gets the nod.

A Beto Governor run with Castro running in the Senate could finally turn Texas a shade of blue.

A similar campaign to what Ossoff/Warnock did for the run off.

...office? My big worry with our current situation is where is the younger Dem talent that is smart and capable of beating the Repubs? Biden is getting us positive momentum, but his coattails and endorsements can only do so much.

I and others tried our best to get one of the Castro brothers to run for governor in 2018. I attended a local town hall with over 150 other democrats to try to get Joaquin to run. He and I talked afterwards (we were both delegates to the Philadelphia convention). There are many in the Texas party who are still pissed at the Castro brothers for not stepping up during a blue wave year to run and while I like Lupe, she was a weak candidate.

O’Rourke May Run for Texas Governor
Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) said he is considering a 2022 gubernatorial run, setting up a potential challenge against incumbent Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R), The Hill reports.

Said O’Rourke: “It’s something I’m gonna think about.”

When Julián Castro wasn’t given a speaking slot at the Democratic National Convention in August, he complained that Joe Biden’s campaign wasn’t showing proper respect to Latino voters. The real explanation for the snub is much simpler: The former housing secretary and presidential candidate had implied that Biden was senile in a primary debate and then didn’t endorse him until June, though the primary race had been over since April, when Bernie Sanders dropped out.

Anita Dunn, a senior adviser to the Biden campaign from the start, declined to comment on what happened with Castro. (An aide to Castro insisted he offered to endorse in April, but the Biden campaign sat on that, and an offer for advice on Latino outreach.) But keeping track of who crosses Biden—staff, reporters, politicians—is part of what she does. She watches. She listens. She remembers. She is completely comfortable with giving a firm no.

“As [Biden] will be the first to say, he’s the only Irishman who doesn’t carry a grudge,” Dunn told me. “I’m not Irish, but I will carry his grudges.”

Julian Castro made a huge mistake which fed into Trump's narrative about Biden being senile

Biden is the least likely to hold a grudge and we saw that with his pick of Harris . But Harris wasn't pushing right wing lies like Castro was.

also great. He is the best Democrats have in Texas and we need to put everything into turning the state around. And having someone like Beto is a huge help.

Julián Castro says it’s ‘very unlikely’ that he runs for office in 2022

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Julián Castro — formerly a presidential candidate, secretary of the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development, and mayor of San Antonio — told KXAN this week that it’s “very unlikely” that he will seek any elected office in 2022.

Castro said he is focused on helping elect Democratic candidates through his political action committee, People First Future.

“Right now, I don’t plan to run in 2022,” Castro said. “I feel like I just went through the marathon of 2020 and then supported candidates and so, right now, I don’t have a target in mind in terms of when I’m going to run again.”

On Thursday, Beto O’Rourke stoked 2022 rumors by telling an El Paso radio station that he’s going to think about challenging Republican incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott, who has already announced he’ll seek a third term.

“You know what, it’s something I’m going to think about,” O’Rourke said close to the end of the 15-minute interview on KLAQ.

O’Rourke suggested Abbott’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic may affect his own thinking about getting into the race.
