(54,770 posts)the insurrection. The heiress might have, but not the company.
Publix is supposedly the largest employee owned company in the world.

I think we probably ought to separate the heiress from the company. Point is, I don't think Publix funded the rubes in Washington.
While the organization gave somewhat more to GOPers than Democrats, they still gave substantial sums to Democrats. In Georgia, they gave $1,000 to Loeffler and $5,000 to John Lewis.

I can live with that, unless anyone knows of an employee owned company, that is in most places, that does better.

(99,716 posts)That's a good thing. They have zero say in how the company is run or where the profits from their labor is donated.

In reality, it looks like some of the family owns about 20% of the stock. Thats a big chunk as far as governance goes unless employees actively engage as shareholders.

(22,917 posts)Essentially someone who inherited shares in Publix helped fund the insurrection. That is not the company. That is not the CEO of the company. Nor does this heiress own anywhere near majority control of the outstanding shares. The heiress should be judged by her actions, and Publix should be judged by its actions. It's not like Publix can confiscate her shares for violating the mission statement of the company.

(26,158 posts)Some majority-black counties in FL have no Publix.
I have boycotted Publix since the employees who own and run 80% of it donated to gun groups after Parkland, and who refused to pay for AIDs meds for employees.
They are still a RW company, majority employee-owned or not.
