Capitol riotersFormer White House strategist Steve Bannon turned on his fellow Trump ally, Rudy Giuliani, after the ex-president's former lawyer tried to pin the Capitol riots' blame on The Lincoln Project.
Bannon, who was pardoned by Former President Trump during his final days in office, invited Giuliani to his "War Room" podcast on Friday to discuss the Capitol riots and the upcoming impeachment process.
During the heated interview, Guliani repeated the false theory that antifa were the "wolves in sheep's clothing" involved in the deadly insurrection. The FBI and The Department of Justice (DOJ) have said there'd been no evidence pointing to the group's involvement.

(6,477 posts)He is offended by the idea that it would have been anybody else, much less antifascists who had infiltrated the MAGA Terrorist cells. Bannon's at least smart enough to know that that narrative makes the MAGAQs look like idiots in addition to being failures.

And yeah I do think you've nailed his motivation for making this argument.
It's also easier to argue from the side of actual facts.

(53,924 posts)Antifa had nothing to do with the insurrection attempting re-install trump fascism, as the itself, Antifa, literally stands for anti-fascism.
Wonder if Rudy even knows that?
