COVID arm

It's an itchy rash that develops on the arm where the COVID vaccine was injected, a week to nine days later. It's alarming but harmless (as far as anyone knows so far) and goes away in a week or two or three or ... It only shows up with the Moderna vaccine, and so far, only with the first shot. It's unknown if it's a reaction to the vaccine itself or an allergic reaction to one of the inactive ingredients.

Only a handful of cases have been reported. Add me to that. I had no idea what it was and consulted Dr. Google, who enlightened me. Doctors suspect that it's far more common than their statistics indicate: Probably most people don't report it because they don't realize it's connected to the shot. So you might not have been warned about this when you got the shot; now you have been.

A week ago Thursday I had the second injection. Sore arm at injection site both times, lasted 4 days max... Almost felt like a mild cellulitis...but not that bad...

I was just about to post the same story about what happened to me with the flu shot. However, an odd thing--I noticed that the rash came back a little yesterday.

I never thought to treat it with an antihistamine.

I didn't even feel it and had to check under the band-aid to make sure I really got it. The person injecting me was also a bit confused because there was no blood after the shot and didn't know where to put the band-aid. When I uncovered it, there was a teeny tiny red dot. That's weird because I take Warfarin.

They gave me a second appointment for 5 days before the four weeks and my husband's appointment was for 29 days after. I questioned them and they said that 5 days early is fine, but when I conferred with Dr. Google, the recommendation is for no earlier than 4 days early for the Moderna vaccine. One person at the site said I could wait and go in with my husband - which I will do even though my card says March 2nd.

I think I'm more anxious now than before the shot.
Hopefully I'll get some sort of slight reaction to the first one.
