SCGOP votes to censure Rep. Tom Rice for voting to impeach Donald Trump

COLUMBIA, S.C. —
The South Carolina GOP voted Saturday to formally censure Congressman Tom Rice, after he voted to impeach former President Donald Trump.
Rep. Rice (R-SC) joined nine other Republican senators in joining Democrats to vote to impeach the President, following the riot on Jan. 6.

A day after his vote, Rice — who represents South Carolina’s 7th District, an area that voted heavily for Trump — told The Associated Press “it hurts my heart” to have gone against the president, but he decided to back impeachment after seeing what he characterized as Trump’s inaction during the Capitol Hill riot.

He’s my district rep, sent him a email thanking him for the courage to vote for impeachment.
He did some local interviews, great interviews, laying out his reasons. He firmly believed his life and the VP’s
would have been killed and voted his conscious. He’s been in the district for awhile, runs unopposed. If no Dem on
the ticket I may just cross over in the primary to help him out.
