So, who here has lost a family member to QAnon?

Let’s start a thread and share some stories/resources.

I’ll start with this phenomenal Reddit sub for family and friends of those lost to the “cause”. I despair.

2. I did some reading there

I think there are a lot of troubled people in that movement. If you go there, note how many stories tell about the messed up pasts of the relatives they lost to Q-anon.

When I see the rioters on TV, I see incredible anger. I have to wonder where all that anger comes from.

It appears Trump put together a base of severely maladjusted people. If the republicans who don't want to vote for a Senate conviction think this group of people are any kind of base in the future, they need to re-think. These people have about as much stability as a bowl of Jello.

Forever racist whites would allow the rich to do what they wanted so long as they knew they were not at the bottom of the social totem pole. But that’s been laid bare. Non-college whites have seen their incomes collapse or freeze as the republicans have stripped away most programs to make capitalism work for everyone, and these people have seen people of color all around them surpassing them socially. And they now correctly see that even though they are white they are guaranteed nothing. A black President made that clear to them.

Throw into that anger, the often overlapping Venn Diagram of the evangelicals seeing general society no longer supporting their world view.

These 2 facts have them angry enough to support the overthrow of democracy to regain their world.

I’m a 55 year old southern white male who wears boots, wrangler dungarees, a ball cap and drives a truck. They talk freely in front of me thinking I’m one of the at bars and breweries and such. When I call them out, which I always do they clam up. Of course, I’m not a small guy and wear boots and wranglers!

If we are going to win this a lot of them will end up in prison or the graveyard. Sorry to be so brutal , but a good many of them are beyond redemption.

But they will lose. They always do in the end.

3. There's going to have to be some sort of national reckoning with QAnon.

A rabbit hole this deep isn't going to go away on its own, and in the meantime it is tearing families and the country apart. There are some trumpers in my family, but so far no hint of Q. :knock wood: I just can't imagine having to deal with a family member going that far over the edge. What it's doing to society is so frustrating and sad.

We still get along fine as long as we don't talk politics, but yeah, too much of that shit rots your brain!
