Will The Ds Ever Get To Run The Senate? Can Yertle Just Never Agree To An Organizing Resolution?

I mean, what the fuck is going on? We're coming up on the Senate being session for a MONTH, and the Rs are STILL in charge of the committee chairs. Lil Lindsey is blocking a hearing to seat AG-designate Merrick Garland. Again, WTF?

Can Schumer just declare the Senate organized, call a vote and pass it with 51 votes? Or are we looking at two more years years of Yertle and the Rs effectively running the Senate?

... because if they're allowed they will run all committees if we don't get rid of filibuster for this one thing.

The filibuster has not been a progressive rule and the kGOP has abused it to no end ... it needs to go

enough that we didn't have to compromise with the Republicans, but in their wisdom the electorate gave us the barest of very hard-won majorities in the senate and took away power in the house (the cost of radical slogans presented as Democratic Party goals). But as JI7 notes, just two weeks ago the Republicans had the majority, a larger one -- and lost it to us.

We're in an enormously better position now and will use our razor-edge of power with all we've got. So let's be very glad of what we will accomplish -- because we are able to -- and, for heavens' sakes, not moan about what we can't. This is the real world, and we're adults.

Playing nice means handing power to the Republicans. Put Garland in as Acting AG and go with it.

Trump didn't just place random people as acting heads. He took people who were Senate approved for different role and swapped them around. Biden can't do the same thing because Garland hasn't been Senate approved for any role. He can't be Acting anything.

And, somehow, leaders like Joe Lieberman shot us in the foot.
